Kinder-Funeral service for Alton "Tony" J. Savant, 83, will be held Monday, October 18, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church of Kinder. Father Carlos Garcia will
officiate. Burial will follow in Carter Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder from 5pm to 9pm and Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 7am to 9pm with a rosary being recited at 6pm. Visitation will continue Monday, October 18, 2010 beginning at 8am until time of service.
Mr. Alton was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church of Sulphur and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the United States Navy in World War II as well as the Korean Conflict and received two honorable discharges, one from each war. Mr. Alton retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 41 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Randy Savant and wife, Flo of Sulphur; two daughters, Kathy Lacock and husband, Rusty of Spring, Tx; Pam Hayes and husband, Terry of Fenton, La.; six grandchildren, Ashley Witsman, Shelby Savant, Jared Lacock, Jenni Lacock, Dustin Hayes & Amy Hayes; six great grandchildren, Mackie Witsman, Ty Witsman, Nealy West, Mason Smith, Samantha Hayes & Hailey Hayes.
Mr. Alton is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Tate Savant; his parents, Auklin T. and Osama Fontenot Savant; three brothers, John Alvin Savant and John Allen Savant (twins), and Theodore J. Savant; and a nephew, Daniel T. Savant.
