Kinder- Funeral service for Ms.Alma H. Corkran, 91, will be held Friday, January 15, 2009 at 1 PM in Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Bro. Ray Rainwater will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, from 11 AM to 10 PM, and will continue on Friday from 7 AM till time of service.
Ms. Corkran was a lifelong resident of Kinder. She passed away on Tuesday in Oberlin, LA. She was a member of Oaklin Springs Baptist Church of Oberlin. She liked hunting and fishing. She was an All State basketball player for Fairview High School, and was an excellent cook. She was a loving mom and a friend to all who knew her. We will miss her smile.
Mrs. Corkran is survived by one son; Jonathan Corkran and wife Rhoda of Iowa; six daughters, Justine Griffiths and husband Marius of Kinder, Alice Duplechain and husband J.C. of Oberlin, Rosemary Smith and husband Kirby of Sulphur, Reba Ann Mendoza and husband Andrew of Globe, AZ, Karen Murrieta and husband Fred of Superior, AZ, and Shealane Guse and husband Richard of Alexandria, LA; 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and "Nettie" Amanda Simmons; her husband, John J. Corkran; her daughter, Melvena Murphy; two sisters and five brothers. Words of comfort may be left at
