Kinder-Funeral services for Aline Fontenot Marcantel, 76, will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home.  Rev. Wallace Kraemer will officiate.  Burial will follow at Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral home of Kinder on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 4-9 p.m.  Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Aline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family.  She was an active member of Oberlin Baptist Church and was a member of the Baptist Women's Ministry.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved reading and collecting recipes and cookbooks.  She was an avid gardener and planted a garden every year.  Every other week she would gather with her friends for cooking, fellowship and playing cards.  She enjoyed getting phone calls from family and friends and was always ready to "chat".  During the last years of her life, she suffered greatly and would off her discomfort as a form of prayer for her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Aline's memory include her son, Hollis Edward Bertrand of Kinder; six daughters, Scylena Bertrand of Oberlin, Hollie Carrier and husband, Clint of Oberlin, Becky Vidrine and husband, Dennis of Kinder, Ashley Mitchell and husband, Devonte of Elton, Brenda Marcantel of Kinder, and Tammy Marcantel of Kinder; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Aline is preceded in death by her parents, Comilius and Evelyn Fontenot; her spouse, Bufford Marcantel; one son, Tony Marcantel; one daughter, Sheila Austin; two brothers, Joe and Jim Fontenot; and three sisters, Helen Aust, Mary Pate, and Evelina Stretton.
