Kinder-Graveside Services for Alice Young John, 79, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2020 at Liberty Cemetery. Rev. M.G. Davis and Rev. Chauncey Davis will officiate. All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

Alice was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a devoted wife to her first husband, Sherman Ortego, for thirty two years and to her second husband, Lowell John, for twenty nine years until his passing in March 2004. She was a woman of strong faith and was a devoted member of The First United Pentecostal Church of Elton. Alice enjoyed sewing, cooking and caring for other people. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and dearly adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was a kind, loving and generous person who always loved helping others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Alice's memory include her three sons, Michael W. Ortego of Elton, Sherman J. Ortego, Jr., of Elton and Stewart John and wife, Marcia, of Elton; two daughters, Lelia M. Bazinet and husband, Michael, of Elton and Connie Miller and husband, Phil, of Ville Platte; one brother, Ray Young of Lake Charles; one sister, Loretta Dale Johnson and husband, Harvey, of Ragley; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Lelia Young; first husband, Sherman J. Ortego; second husband, Lowell A. John; one stepson, Seward John; one stepdaughter, Sybil John; four brothers, Howard, Roy "Butch", Alvie, and Robert L. "Bobby" Young; and one sister, Helen Wells.
