Alcee was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a faithful, lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, a member of Sons of St. Paul, Knights of Columbus and was very proud of his Catholic heritage. Alcee was a hard worker; always working hard to provide for his family. He loved to cook gravies, listen to French music, and play the harmonica and the guitar. Last, but certainly not least, Alcee enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren in which he spoiled rotten. His children say they are very proud to call him dad and are very thankful for his influence in their lives. He was a very outgoing person who loved to go to Home Bank and drink coffee. Alcee was also a very giving person always willing to help someone in need. He loved to visit with his friends and never met a stranger. He was an excellent example of a man to his son and grandsons and showed his daughters and granddaughters how they should expect to be treated by a man. Alcee will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Alcee's memory include his son, Gregory Vidrine and wife, Carla of Elton; two daughters, Theresa Fontenot and fiancé, Craig Burghdoff of Krotz Springs and Kimberly Brooke Harris and husband, Eric of Elton; six grandchildren, Amy Broussard and husband, Aaron of Moss Bluff, Gregory Vidrine, II and fiancée, Allie Guillory of Elton, Joshua Vidrine and fiancée, Amanda Rosalis of Lufkin, TX, Jacob Fontenot and wife, Kylee of Basile, Dakimbra Williams and Eric Harris, Jr. both of Elton; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Tonas "Junior" Vidrine, Jr. and wife, Yvette of Morse; one sister, Olivia Hanks of Crowley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Alcee is preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne; parents, Tonas Vidrine and Pearl May; one brother, Alvin Ray Vidrine; and two sisters, Ann Hodgkins and Martha "Marty" Lansdale.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Lamm Family Care Hospice and Camelot Brookside in Jennings for all of the love and care they have shown for Mr. Alcee.
