Oakdale-Funeral Services for A.J. Giles, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oakdale. Rev. Chad Longino will officiate. Burial will follow at Cryer Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
Visitation will be held Sunday morning beginning at 10 a.m. until time of service. ***Please note, due to state mandates, a face covering is required inside and social distancing must be maintained throughout your visit.***
A.J. was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Windle, for fifty-five years. He worked very hard as a heavy equipment mechanic where he drove back and forth to Fort Polk for forty years to provide for his family. A.J. served his country in the United States Army for two years and in Frankfurt, Germany for one year. He was a devoted and faithful deacon at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church for forty years. A.J. loved spending special time with his grands, mowing and being outdoors with his little dog, Bella. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish A.J.'s memory include his wife, Windle Perry Giles; one son, Evan Giles and wife, Becki; two daughters, LaDonna Hudson and husband, Stacey and Andrea Gilley and husband, Brad; two sisters, Sue Giles Glass and Marlene Giles Paul; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
A.J. is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Rosalie Giles; and two sisters, Sabrina Giles and Linda Braddy.
Pallbearers honored to serve are- Tyler Gilley, Jeremy Paul, Tommy Braddy, Keith McCelland, Daniel Ware and Joshua Paul.
Honorary Pallbearers are- Gregory LaBorde and Shelton Hudson.
