Addie Mae Hodge was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She was loved by all who knew her. And she loved everyone. She loved to make anyone laugh, with what was mostly a true story. You either laughed at the story or her facial expression while she told the story. Once she started laughing, you couldn't help but to join her. She loved her children. She especially loved her grandchildren. Levi, known as "Evi" loved talking and interacting with his Gamaw. Dakota, known as "Coty" adored his grandmother, just as she adored him. MayLynn is a splitting image of Addie Mae, and they have so much in common. They both share a heart of gold. Addie loved to read her bible. She read her bible daily and was never far from it. Addie enjoyed dressing in anything red or purple, with lots of beads, preferably Mardi Gras beads. She loved her jewelry. She loved making trips to the beauty shop to get dolled up. A trip to town included shopping, food and visiting family and friends. Addie had a wonderful green thumb. She has spent numerous days giving her plants life, from nothing. Addie enjoyed listening to Elvis. He was her favorite. Addie had a heart for her puppies and cats. Pumpkin was her protector and friend for years. Addie had many hobbies but just a few included collecting and fiddling. She collected anything she could. Even if it included the utensils from the nursing home kitchen or small pieces of paper and pictures, no matter how many copies of the same picture she had. She never wanted to throw anything away. Addie fiddled to pass time, most days. She fiddled in her purses and wallets. She combined purses and wallets all into one, no matter how difficult it was. Nothing was impossible, even if it took 3 days to accomplish. Addie entered the nursing home in 2014. While there she made many long-term friends. One friend included Candice Ortego, known as "Candy". Candy held a special place in Addie's heart. Trevor Fuselier was also, a great friend to Addie. He was one of the many nurses that took great care of Addie over the years. Addie had a baby doll named Polly Sue. Addie took good care of Polly. She often fed Polly mashed potatoes and gravy, and anything sweet. Addie loved vanilla cookies, mayonnaise, a good diet coke, sugar, and creamer with her coffee, and so did Polly.
Addie is walking the streets of heaven with Jesus, now.
Those left to cherish Addie's memory include her husband, Matthew Hodge; five sons, James Hodge and wife Heather, Emmit Gunter, Ricky Gunter and wife Deborah, Rodney Gunter and Jimmy "Bo" Gunter, three daughters, Vivian "Sissy" Jordan and husband Louie, Sherry Ann Warton, and Jeanette Gordon; one brother, Jimmy Moore and wife Elaine; twenty-two grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; one special friend, Candice Ortego C.N.A; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Addie is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas, and Vivian Moore; one son, Vernon "Junior" Hodge; two brothers, and nine sisters.
Addie's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Harbor Hospice, Vickie Landreneaux, Tamara Gordon, Cheryl Guillory, and Savoy Care Center for all their love and compassion while taking care of her.
